Copywriter Tip- KISS: Keep It Short and Simple
Hey, you're new. We like you already! You obviously have great taste! If you like what you read here you'll probably want to subscribe to our RSS feed (or the audio RSS feed). Stick around and be sure to speak up and post a comment or two!
Writers often use a tactic known as the âdelayed dropâ. Tease your readers, tantalize them, lead them on, then drop in the unexpected. Itâs easier with longer articles in magazines. Here, you have the luxury of time. People have consciously chosen to read your article and they’ll stay with you.
Copywriting works differently. People are short of time, and you’re not the only one vying for it. So get to the point - clearly.
When writing copy repeat to yourself:
⢠Just say it.
⢠Less is more.
⢠Get to the point â quick.

Wow, so many interpretations of the KISS strategy for copywriters. The first time I heard it, it was….. “Keep it Simple Stupid” (The original I believe).
Later on I heard “Keep it simple silly” and now it’s “Keep it Short and Simple”.
As long as there is a word “Simple” in that phrase, it’s valid.
