One Conference, Two Conference, Three Conference, Floor

Hey, you're new. We like you already! You obviously have great taste! If you like what you read here you'll probably want to subscribe to our RSS feed (or the audio RSS feed). Stick around and be sure to speak up and post a comment or two!

One Conference:

I went to SEMpdx SearchFest 2008 in Portland earlier this month and loved it. Come April 21 & 22, we’ll be in Houston for Small Business Marketing: Unleashed. At SearchFest I found it refreshing that one track had sessions led by a sole speaker. These sessions gave the speaker thirty minutes to provide more in depth information. I loved them! The other track was more typical with 3-4 speakers, all given 15 - 20 minutes to fill you with as much information as they possibly could.

Two Conference:

Previous conferences I’ve attended include Pubcon, in Las Vegas, and

Three Conference:

SES San San Jose. I thought I was well prepared for Pubcon after SES. At SES, there were four days of four sessions, each with three or four tracks per session, and nice relaxed fifteen minute breaks between. Pubcon was going to be a breeze with only three days.

HA! Pubcon had five sessions on day one, three sessions on day two and another five sessions on day three, each with three or four tracks. It was a struggle to absorb it all. By 4 o’clock on day one, I felt like my brain was going to explode from information overload, and I had another full session (and two more days) to attend!

With that background, maybe you’ll understand why SEMpdx was such a relief, and why I am looking so forward to Unleashed.

FLOOR!

Small Business Marketing: Unleashed

With two days, the sessions are focused and to the point. Check the schedule yourself and you’ll see.

Day one has four sessions and you have to choose only between two tracks. Each speaker is given a full hour and fifteen minutes to go into much deeper depth on their topics. Better still is day two, filled with workshops presented by the speakers from the previous day.

And then there’s the food and festivities!! Small Business Marketing: Unleashed is going to wine and dine us … Everyone is invited to the Charity Speed Networking dinner and the Fiesta Unleashed is included for conference pass holders.

So if you haven’t, sign up already, what are you waiting for? I’ll see you there, easy to spot me sporting my Pole Position Marketing Pit Crew shirt!. :-) And no, I’m not getting paid to promote the conference, I’m just really looking forward to it!

  1. Todd Mintz Says:

Diana, thanks for the kind words about Searchfest. We deliberately paced our day so people could take everything in without growing brain dead…I agree Pubcon was pretty hardcore.

  2. Diana Adams Says:

Todd I was completely sincere in all I said about SearchFest. What I hadn’t mentioned was the venue- I loved that it was at the zoo. Not sure if we were supposed to go into the zoo, but the guy at the gate just looked at our passes and let us walk in. Made for a great lunch break.
