Google PR Update

Hey, you're new. We like you already! You obviously have great taste! If you like what you read here you'll probably want to subscribe to our RSS feed (or the audio RSS feed). Stick around and be sure to speak up and post a comment or two!

Its been noted in several forums that Google has not updated the PR bar for about three months. Along with that, looking at backlinks appears to be wildly innaccurate as the results contain only a sampling of the backlinks.

I’m not a big fan of the PR bar but we have to rely on it to some extent because of the industry. Not having updated or current information makes it especially difficult when others are looking at the PR bar when determining whether to link to you or not.

I would love to see the PR bar completely disappear. I don’t believe it serves Google’s goal of quality search results, but rather increases the attempted manipulation of search results. Without PR, sites will go back to linking to quality and relevant sites, not simply looking at high PR sites.
