Microsoft - Yahoo Alliance

Hey, you're new. We like you already! You obviously have great taste! If you like what you read here you'll probably want to subscribe to our RSS feed (or the audio RSS feed). Stick around and be sure to speak up and post a comment or two!

On January 6th, Yahoo announced that they have made an agreement with Microsoft Corporation to include Yahoo! services in Microsoft’s Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, the newest release of Windows XP which is designed to provide an all inclusive entertainment resource for home PC users.
My Yahoo! and Yahoo! Premium Video will be available in a specialized delivery format that is optimized for users of XP Media Center and will come bundled with the operating system starting next week.

This is an interesting move in light of the fact that MSN Search is dropping Yahoo search results and moving to an exclusive usage of their own search technology. This agreement suggests to me that Microsoft and Yahoo wish to maintain a degree of unity in the face of their common rival Google.
