Are you a Business Owner or a Business Doer

There are two kinds of business owners: those that love running a business and those that love doing the business.
Business doers are the ones that love to DO the work of the business. They can often would rather have someone help run the business for them so they can focus on the production side of things. Most business doers will take on more than they should before hiring more people to help them, but they love what they do.
Business owners are those that love running a business. They start with businesses they enjoy, but the type of business doesn’t matter as much, so long as it can be a successful business. Doing the work is fine for a while, but they’d much rather hire experts to do it for them. Owners tend to be big idea people, they develop the strategies for success, but rely on others to make it happen.

Notice that the most successful are the Owners.
P.S. Dentists with own practices, SEOs, etc are business doers. They employ themselves. If they leave for a 2 months vacation they’ll come back to a parking lot built where their business used to stand.
Goal in life (for many people) is to OWN a business that can run without you being there 24/7. That’s when you can work ON your business instead of IN it.
September 8th, 2006 at 9:19 amI could not have said it better myself. In regards to SEO I love the business, but this isn’t the business I HAVE to operate, it just happens to be one that I’m good at. But if not this then I could operate any other business and be content. In my mind, a business that cannot be sold it not a business worth doing.
