Google PR Update

posted by Stoney deGeyter on Wednesday, September 22nd, 2004

Its been noted in several forums that Google has not updated the PR bar for about three months. Along with that, looking at backlinks appears to be wildly innaccurate as the results contain only a sampling of the backlinks.
I’m not a big fan of the PR bar but we have to rely on it […]

You’ve got to love this: copyscape.com will analyze your page content and show you where its been stolen and placed on someone else’s site. Its not perfect as it shows link descriptions which are most often legitimate but can be a great find for catching anyone stealing large portions of your text.

Jumping on the Traffic Power Bandwagon

posted by Stoney deGeyter on Friday, September 10th, 2004

The Las Vegas Business Press has a good article on Traffic Power. Here is a quote I found most intersting:
While business developer Powers sympathizes with Ohrum - with whom he spoke over the phone - Powers says Ohrum failed to understand that getting banned by Google is part of the business.
Part of the business? […]

Search Marketer Resources

posted by Pole Position Marketing Team on Wednesday, September 8th, 2004

A fairly comprehensive resource guide that I stumbled upon called “Killer Tips and Tools for Search Marketers”, is a catalogue of internet resources dealing with various aspects of Internet Marketing. It’s available as a .pdf download from Smart Search Marketing. Downloading does require registration and the download URL is then e-mailed to […]

SEO Testing?

posted by Stoney deGeyter on Wednesday, September 8th, 2004

Here is an interesting business concept for SEO. SEO Testing. $99/year allows you to submit SEO concepts for testing purposes to see if they work.
With so many variables to potentially optimize, I’m not sure how single concepts can be tested. It seems that any one concept may pass or fail on the basis of […]

Successful Search Engine Marketing

posted by Stoney deGeyter on Thursday, September 2nd, 2004

I started a thread over at Search Engine Watch forums to generate a discussion on how to measure a successful SEO campaign. I’ve been less than thrilled by the lack of response and there have been few real insights, but I think its a good conversation worth watching and throwing in your $0.02 worth. […]
