Do You Roll With The King?

posted by Stoney deGeyter on Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

The name is King. Burger King. And this is how the King rolls.
I’m fascinated by Burger King’s marketing campaigns. First they came out with the little blurbs found on their burger wrappers, fry containers and soda cups. Now they got some of those cool blurbs in the store (I read a clever one on the […]

Copywriting Tip- Hyperlink Intelligence

posted by Katie Cummings on Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

Internal Hyperlinks
You are your own best resource, so use yourself. Hyperlink other resource pages of your site that are relevant to the copy. This will benefit the reader, increase the amount of time they spend on your site, and help you with the search engines.
External Hyperlinks
Incorporating links to external resources will benefit the reader […]

The Best Keywords Ever

posted by Stoney deGeyter on Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

No, I’m not going to give you a list of most searched or most clicked keywords or whatever. Instead I’m going to talk about how to determine which keywords will be the best for you.
There are a number of measurements that can be used when determining how good a keyword might be:

Search volume (high […]

Ghost With the Most… Stupid Ad Campaign

posted by Craig Belis on Monday, February 26th, 2007

I don’t know much about the Ghost Rider character, but like everyone else in America I have been subject to the barrage of advertising for the newly released Nicolas Cage movie. If you haven’t had the pleasure, please review the trailer below. Pay special attention to the information given in the voice over. […]

Formula for Success

posted by Stoney deGeyter on Monday, February 26th, 2007

If you want to be distressed - look within.
If you want to be defeated - look back.
If you want to be distracted - look around.
If you want to be dismayed - look ahead.
If you want to be delivered - look up.

Content Is Important, But…

posted by Katie Cummings on Friday, February 23rd, 2007

Content is important, but if the images you incorporate don’t support your cause you risk loosing your audience. I began thinking about this after I saw a Nicoderm commercial. No, not the hilarious one with the psycho flight attendant. This one has a woman talking about how her hair doesn’t smell like an ashtray anymore. […]

New RSS Feed - Change Your Subscription

posted by Stoney deGeyter on Friday, February 23rd, 2007

We (finally) upgraded to FeedBurner so our RSS feed has changed. I’d like to ask all EMP readers who pull our feed via RSS to switch over to our new feed: http://feeds.feedburner.com/empE-marketingPerformance.
The old feed will still work but taking a few seconds to change the subscription will allow us to have some accurate stats.
Thanks!

Clever New Baskin Robbins Logo

posted by Stoney deGeyter on Friday, February 23rd, 2007

I noticed the other day that Baskin Robins changed their logo. Here’s the old logo:

Here’s the new one:

It wasn’t until the next day after I first saw it that it dawned on me that the Pink part of the ‘BR’ forms the number “31″. As in 31 flavors.
It’s clever.
But it’s also somewhat hard on […]

A few weeks ago I became the proud owner of a 1966 Dodge Charger. Its in good condition but it needs some engine work. Unfortunately, about the only thing I know how to fix in a car is, uh, well… hmmm… I guess I really don’t know how to fix anything in a car. Not […]

My Advice on Google Sitemaps: Don’t Take Rand’s Advice

posted by Jason Green on Wednesday, February 21st, 2007

I feel compelled to begin with a little disclaimer: in no way was today’s blogging activity here at PPM orchestrated to be a pick on Rand day. We openly praise and discuss much of Rand’s work here at the office and we are very much fans of SEOMoz.
With that said…
Today I was reading an […]

Bringing the Elite Down to Earth

posted by Stoney deGeyter on Wednesday, February 21st, 2007

Even the best of us in the business can sometimes go all elite and say something dumb. I love Rand of SEOmoz but I think he went swimming in the deep end of the elite pool without his floaties. You can read my full post about this over at Search Engine Guide in my post […]

We’ve all have bad habits we need to kick. But we don’t because we are comfortable in them. They are easy and changing is hard. But more times than not, changing the bad habit will actually make life easier for you in the long run. You know this. We all do.
But today is the […]

The Hippocritic Oath

When I first graduated from college I, like everyone else, had to start at the bottom. Consequently, I worked as a medical proofreader. It gets worse. Every day I had to poor over reviews for Workman’s Comp cases. Oh joy.
Did I mention I love my job?
Anyway back to the point, it was extremely […]

Inside Jason’s SEO Toolbox - Search Tools

posted by Jason Green on Friday, February 16th, 2007

Everyday I see at least 1 new “SEO Tool” on the web. Generally they are copycats of existing tools as this is an area that SEO’s have beaten to death. Over the years I have encountered thousands of so-called SEO tools most of which are simply of no unique value. Occasionally I do however come […]

Don’t Take Any Sh#t.

posted by Katie Cummings on Friday, February 16th, 2007

I’ve never been a follower of the whole New Years resolution idea, not that I don’t think I can follow through with it, but because I think we tend to set ourselves up for failure with such things. However, for some reason this year, I felt compelled to come up with a realistic resolution, besides […]
